Personal Statement |
Gamification |
As an experienced interior designer I am able to quickly read plans and interpret design. In my position as a Technical Designer at 3form, I have been able to lead and mentor new employees while increasing productivity. I love details. Figuring out how designs are built and created gives me more satisfaction that I ever imagined possible. I find intense enjoyment in solving difficult problems and finding solutions to customers requests.

Gamification is the application of game elements in a non-gaming environment. Interior Design education in today's world naturally lends itself to the gamifying of course content. My masters thesis combined both the basics of gamification and interior design education to present simple gamified content specific to interior design curriculum.

Teaching Philosophy
As an interior design educator, my goal is to help students understand and visualize interior design concepts and theories and enable them to apply those concepts and theories to practice.
I see the interior design student is an unmolded block of clay. As an educator, I can help the students carve out their design potential by unlocking their inner sculptor. By giving students the knowledge and skills to execute their design vision, I allow them to shape their own future and create the sculptural representation of themselves to the world.
I believe that the best thing I can do as an educator is to support diverse student learners as they prepare for their final career paths. Students bring different skills, backgrounds and perspectives to the practice, by embracing these differences I can engage the students various methods of learning, and help students gain unique insights into the learning methods of others.
In summary, I believe in students. I believe that by creating an atmosphere of learning, where differences are embraced I can help students mold themselves into the future designers that the world needs.
